Structure of the hair
---------------------
The skin surface is furrowed and the
hair follicles are narrow with straight
edges; the follicles contains clusters of
hairs.
The fine fur fibres are from 14 to 25 µm
in diameter. The cross-sectional outline is The cuticular structure
circular and the cuticular scale are of the fine fibres, 1000x
cornet-like with a smooth scale surface and
straight margins. These fine fibres are
non-medullated.

The intermediate fibres are both
flat-shaped and sickle-shaped in
cross-sectional outline; the diameter is
from 45 to 60 µm. The cuticular scales are
even, tile-like in shape. The surface is
smooth and the scale margins are straight.
The medulla is wide, unbroken and of the
non-central regular-shaped type. The
overall structure of the medullary column The cuticular structure
is of the sponge-cortex-like shape. The of an intermediate hair, 1000x
infilling material is of a fine porous
structure.
The guard hairs are both, flat-shaped and sickle-shaped with a diameter of
60 to 125 µm in the wider side of cross-section. The cuticle is even,
tile-like with a smooth scale surface and straight scale margins. The medulla
is wide, unbroken and non-central regular-shaped in cross-sectional outline.
The medullary column is sponge-cortex-like in shape and the structure of the
infilling medullar substance is foam-like.
